Дре сразу понравилась одноклассница Мей Йинг, и чувства взаимны, но культурные различия делают их дружбу невозможной. Даже хуже, из-за этого Чен, главный забияка в классе, становится врагом Дре. В стране кунг-фу Дре лишь немного знает карате, и Чен легко кладет «карате-пацана» на лопатки. В чужой стране у Дре нет друзей, и он обращается к уборщику м-ру Хану (Джеки Чан), тайному мастеру кунг-фу. Хан учит, что кунг-фу – это не удары и блоки, а сила и спокойствие, и Дре понимает, что осаживание забияк будет делом всей его жизни.
