Bach: Toccata and Fugue, BWV 565 — Tariq Harb, guitar
Опубликовано: 22 дек. 2019 г.Guitarist Tariq Harb performs J.S. Bach's monumental Toccata and Fugue, BWV 565. This is an adaptation for solo guitar by Edson Lopes.
The Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565, is a musical composition in two parts for organ, written sometime between 1708 and 1750 by Johann Sebastian Bach, and known for its majestic sound, dramatic authority, and driving rhythm. The piece is perhaps most widely known due to its appearance in the opening minutes of the 1940 Disney cult classic Fantasia, in which it was adapted for orchestra by the conductor Leopold Stokowski. It also has a strong association in Western culture with horror films; it was included in films such as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), The Black Cat (1934) and The Phantom of the Opera (1962).
The first part of Bach’s piece is a toccata, the name of which is derived from the Italian toccare, “to touch.” It represents a musical form for keyboard instruments that is designed to reveal the virtuosity of the performer’s touch. Bach’s take on the toccata is typical in that it has many fast arpeggios and runs up and down the keyboard but otherwise is generally free form and gives the composer much latitude for personal expression. In Bach’s day, toccatas often served as introductions to and foils for fugues, setting the stage for the complex and intricate composition to follow.
The fugue — a technique characterized by the overlapping repetition of a principal theme in different melodic lines (counterpoint) — that is the second part of Bach’s composition reflects the particular popularity of the form during the late 1600s and early 1700s. Bach made much use of the fugue in his compositions, most famously in solo organ pieces such as this one but also in instrumental works and choral cantatas. This particular fugue is quite unusual in its form; it is a plagal fugue using plagal cadences as opposed to the authentic cadences that Bach usually employs. It also does not introduce the subject in all the voices one after the other in the beginning of the fugue. Instead, Bach slips in sequences in between the announcements of the subjects which is again quite unusual for a Baroque fugue. The fugue, with its accompanying toccata, is not only the best known of Bach’s many fugues but the most famous of fugues by any composer.

Опубликовано: 5 мар. 2015 г.Francisco de Asís Tárrega y Eixea (21 November 1852 – 15 December 1909) was a Spanish composer and classical guitarist of the Romantic period.
Tárrega was born on 21 November 1852, in Villarreal, Province of Castellón, Spain. It is said that Francisco's father played flamenco and several other music styles on his guitar; when his father was away working as a watchman at the Convent of San Pascual, the child would take his father's guitar and attempt to make the beautiful sounds he had heard. Francisco's nickname as a child was «Quiquet».
As a child, he ran away from his nanny and fell into an irrigation channel and injured his eyes. Fearing that his son might lose his sight completely, his father moved the family to Castellón de la Plana to attend music classes because as a musician he would be able to earn a living, even if blind. Both his first music teachers, Eugeni Ruiz and Manuel González, were blind.

Evgeny Grinko is a talented Russian musician from the small town Zhukovsky located not far from Moscow. He creates music that touches feelings without the need for words and rids indifference. His compositions prove that modern music is not just a shallow show of highly marketed production but has real substance and depth.
He also performs under the name of Greendaizer. He is playing in various local Russian bands, moved to the orchestration field with the arrangement he made for an army band for Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart song. Grinko has given numerous concerts in Turkey.
Evgeny Grinko, became acquainted with music early in his childhood through fairytales and soundtracks to films about The Three Musketeers. His first and strongest influence came at the age of 16 when he was introduced to both punk music and a group of surf rock musicians, and Evgeny began to learn the Guitar and start his own Rockband. Two years later, he became interested in percussion and started playing noisy Rock music in a number of avant-garde groups in the style of noise rock, psychedelia, and experimental electronica.
In 2008, Evgeny Grinko toured Russia, including accompanying “Can” ex-vocalist Damo Suzuki and American minimalist composer Rhys Chatham during their concerts in Russia.
In 2010, during a break from noisy rock concerts, the “Valse” (Waltz) composition was written, while on January 1, 2011, Evgeny Grinko’s first solo mini album for the piano “Winter Sunshine” was released.
His composition, Valse, was viewed on YouTube with 24+ million views.
In 2011, the films “Generation P” (directed by Victor Ginzburg) and “Shapito-shou” (by Sergey Loban) were released and contained music by Evgeny. [3]
In 2014, Evgeny released his third album “Ice For Aureliano Buendia”. The album included the hit song “Valse” and the composition “Serenade”.
Since 2014, Evgeny lives in a small house in the forest – having moved away from the city to find peace and quiet – where he continues to write new compositions and makes music for documentary films.
In 2018, two new albums are planned for release as well as concerts after a three-year hiatus.
