Клубный танец шаффл впервые появился в Мельбурне (Австралия) в конце 80-х годов прошлого века. В то время была популярна музыка в стиле acid house, и шаффл стал одним из нескольких танцев, появившихся благодаря этому направлению. Основу техники шаффла составляют быстрые, «джазовые» танцевальные движения, но в наше время танец можно танцевать практически под любую электронную клубную музыку.

Как и у любого популярного танца у шаффла начали появляться подстили и вариации, а за первоначальным стилем закрепилось название «Melbourne Shuffle». В наше время танец стал настолько популярным, что практически в каждом городе можно найти танцевальную школу этого направления, а интернет переполняет множество профессиональных онлайн-уроков.
Shuffle club dance first appeared in Melbourne (Australia) at the end of the 80s of the last century.
